Lammas, also known as Lughnasadh, is one of the eight nature festivals and is marking the beginning of the harvest season. In the Southern Hemisphere, this celebration falls on February 1st, aligning with the first fruits of the harvest, particularly grains.
The name "Lammas" derives from the Old English "hlaf-mass," meaning "loaf mass," celebrating the first loaf baked from the new harvest. Lammas is one of the four fire festivals in the Wheel of the Year, alongside Imbolc, Beltane, and Samhain, where fire plays a significant role in rituals and celebrations.
